WoW Druid Balance



The Balance Druid is the ranged caster among the Druid specializations. His Moonkin Form, the 41 point talent, also gave him the name Moonkin Druid. While the Moonkin was the laughing stock of Burning Crusade raiding due to its poor damage and silly looks, and he was often only taken along for his crit aura, Blizzard has changed lots of things in order to make the Balance Druid a serious damage dealer with lots of usefull buffs for the raidgroup.

First of all there is the Moonkin Aura, increasing the spell critical strike chance of anyone affected by it by 5%. If talented correctly this aura will also increase the haste by 3%. While Faerie Fire already was liked for its armor lowering effect it now can be talented to give up to 3% spell hit chance to anyone attacking the target debuffed by it - a popular buff among the casters. Finally the insect swarm will lower the enemies chance to hit by 3%, which is a great boon to the tank's survival.

Naturally the Druid does not only bring strong buffs and debuffs, but he deals a serious punch as well. Two new spells were added to his arsenal, provided he takes the needed talents. Typhoon is an area of effect spell and knocks enemies hit by it a few yards back. Starfall is similar to the same ability from Warcraft III. Every enemy in the vicinity is hit by falling stars which deal splash damage, hurting everyone in the area. Some spells were modified to work in Moonkin Form to allow for more flexibility.
